Psychic school wars more popularly known as Nerawareta Gakuen Is an animated movie based on a science fiction novel Nerawareta Gakuen. The movie was released in 2012 directed by Ryosuke Nakamura. Psychic school wars is a science fiction along with a teen-romance film.
ABOUT THE CHARACTERS
The story of psychic school wars circles around four main characters- Kenji Seki, who is portrayed as a typical pervert and insensitive person, Natsuki Suzuura, who’s Kenji’s neighbor and has a one-sided love for him, Kahori Harukawa, a dedicated piano player and also Kenji’s crush. She has a crush on Ryoichi. Ryoichi Kyoguku is a psychic who has traveled through the time to save future by turning students who have the potential to be a psychic into one.
PLOT
The story begins with a transfer student coming to a Japanese high school.
Ryoichi is
a psychic who does not belong to Earth. He has a crystal with an hourglass
within, that can turn into a dog that can talk and is used by Ryoiji to turn
potentially psychic students into one.
He seems to
be taking over and controlling the bodies of the students one by one. Along the
same time, a short chain of unrequited love affects many students unaffected by
the psychic effects.
The story revolves around Kenji, who is almost all the time walking his dog to beech to have a look at his crush kahori and his childhood friend Natsuki who lives next door.
Kenji’s
life takes a turn when he encounters Ryoichi, who claims to have psychic
powers. As Ryoichi is a handsome guy, Kahori seems to be attracted to him. The
other character Natsuki tries to support Kenji in telling his feelings to
kahori but deep down even Natsuki has some feelings towards Kenji, which she is
not aware of.
The movie tells the relationship-driven story of how the presence of Ryoichi sets wheels of fate in motion for Kenji. His ordinary days are challenged by growing jealousy seeing his crush Kahori falling for a young psychic, and also his friend Natsuki seems to be troubled with her problems.
Psychic school wars have been underrated because of their complex story. The story is mixed up with romance, school life, psychic problems, jealousy, etc, and does not stick to a single plot or storyline. However, these things would not matter to a hardcore anime lover. The plot of the movie is really interesting and has a fresh story. Apart from the story, another attention-grabbing point is the colorful visuals. The film has a really rich and vivid aesthetic that makes the scenes pop off the screen.
The movie is much more successful as a teen
romance rather than a science fiction thriller. This is because the characters
are charming, and there is a straightforwards take on a teen romance. The science-fiction
elements are rather confusing.
